I was born in Kiev, Ukraine – the former Soviet Union. I immigrated with his family to the United States in 1979, settling in Brooklyn, NY. Shortly after graduating grade school, I joined the US Navy. A few years later, in 1991, as a decorated veteran, I returned to college and attained a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in English from LIU. From 1994, I continued my studies while working as a Professor’s Assistant (TA) and a tutor of writing until I received my Master of Arts degree with honors in English and Creative Writing from LIU. From 1994 – 1996, during my stint as a graduate student, I wrote poetry, short stories, and essays and was published in Downtown Brooklyn, a journal of writing. From 1996 until 2000, I worked as a licensed teacher of English in a NYC public high school. In 2005, I received his MBA in financial management. Presently, I operate a financial services and business consulting company. Nevertheless, my passion for writing still burns powerfully. I never digressed from his beloved craft. I continue to write and enter contests. I placed as a semifinalist and twice as a quarterfinalist in the Cinematic Short Story competition, earning accolades through Coverfly. Recently, I received another accolade for my pitch for an action feature film idea, placing his work in the top 1% of the Action Pitch category with Coverfly. I live in Staten Island, NY with my wife and three children who are a replenishing source of my inspiration. Due to the biracial composition of my family, my creative vision is to unite people of different races and backgrounds through art, reconciling the differences in cultures by revealing common humanity, needs, and wants as expressed via my characters and settings.
