Made It
Well we have arrived,Spent two weeks waiting for the bike to be offloaded from the boat,so hired a real cheap camper van and toured around Queensland.
The bike became available on the 11th Dec,so went and paid the compulsory 3rd party insurance ($300 aus) .Paid another $190 aus for customs clearance, picked up a tempory driving permit from Queensland transport (free) .
Handed in the camper, got the train out to Kingston where the bike was at internationaal movers company, unpacked the bike and rode it to the motel we had booked befohand. It just happened that the nice lady at international movements went to the same school as me (oetamoetai college in Tauranga NZ) she was there the same years as I was,a very helpfull lady.
Got up early on friday the 12dec,headed out to a small place called Killarny, about 200kms from Brisbane, very hot day,the roads we were on were very rough back roads, very little traffic,a good test for the bike, she's very heavy to handle,I feel we may have too much gear!!! But what to leave behind? We already packed then packed again leaving half behind, may have to do it again!! Stayed at a lovely campsite called Queen Mary Falls all sorts of wildlife and only $17 night.
Next day we headed to Stanthorpe where all the fruit and veges are grown,we will stay here for a while and get work picking fruit, refill the coffers!
Pretty good climate here usually 26-36 degrees so quite mild.Just waiting for the word on jobs at the moment.
