Ushuaia
At last on 2nd February I arrived in Ushuaia - seven months and 18,259 miles after leaving Dead Horse.
It felt fantastic to finally get here- particularly as this is also the end of my fifth and final continent. The triumphant entry to the city was somewhat tempered by the fact that when I stopped at the first supermarket I saw to purchase the obligatory champagne, Thelma then refused to start and I had to be bump-started out of the carpark! Somehow a bit more fitting and apt as a reflection on my long, long journey.
I went to the infamous Rio Pipo campsite and sure enough there was another biker there- Carlo (Germany on his R80G/S), we had lst seen each other a couple of weeks earlier on Ruta Cuarenta, he helped me to celebrate.
Yes, an important thing to note (depending on your priorities) is that if you are considering doing this bike ride, I would recommend starting in Dead Hosre and heading south as Dead Horse is a dry community - yes that´s right, NOT a drop of alcohol to celebrate this fantastic journey. Whereas down here there were 10 different champagnes to choose from in the supermarket as well as the inumerable other wines etc.
Somehow I have managed to spend a whole week in Ushuaia but am now hitting the road again - northwards up the East Coast while I decide what to do and where to go next.
