Not driving, hopefully fixing

Well, The past week has seen me trying to fix the broken bike.Well, The past week has seen me trying to fix the broken bike. CAM00010.jpgI had it towed
to MotoShop in San Francisco by AAA-(upgraded to 'Premier' just to do this since it saved hundreds of dollars), and proceeded to disassemble the crankcase to see what happened and fix it. After downloading 'How tos' and studying them for hours, I thought I could do it, but I needed a lot of help and support from Wilder, the owner of MotoShop. He is an amazingly easygoing, ready to help no matter what, and super resource for fixing motorcycles. It took 2-3 hours to take it all apart, 2-3 more to put it back together. Sure enough, the 'starter clutch'-a ridiculous engineering fiasco by Yamaha was broken. I bought a new kit that was genuine Yamaha and it is in. I'm going back today to add new oil and start it. Prayers are sincerely appreciated...
It started-thank you angels! Took it home and now have to regain trust that it will continue to start. I'll take it on short rides and park it on hills! Being home with it instead of on the road with a broken motorcycle is actually really good. Happy trails to all.
