This was the tough bit, what to take, this is what we left with....
Loads of spares for the bike but not much else!
Thanks for all your help:-
Simon & Nick @ Arden Motorcycles, for servicing the bike and providing fantastic service, spares and moral support.
That famous mad scotsman Dennis Brown for unending support and unique p***taking, cheers mate.
All family members who have acted above and beyond the call of duty in the past few weeks, we love you all.
Why are we doing it?....... because we can!!!
After 3 years of planning and dreaming we're now ready for the off. We're ready to take on the world but ... is the world ready for us?
Our bike of choice is a Honda Africa Twin called "Mischa", after a particularly lovely blue mearle collie we used to own.
The only modification made are :-
New centre stand
Engine bars (Motech)
Aluminium Panniers (MetalMule)
Headlight protector
Cigarette lighter socket (heavy smokers!!)
Scottoiler
New rims and heavy duty S/S spokes
Replacement rear rack (MetalMule)
Arrived at Pearson Airport, customs a bit on the heavy side but we made it through. Met and spoilt by Michael & Theresa (many thanks) and were great helps in getting the bike out of customs the next day (6 hrs). 17 miles into the RTW trip, police stop Del for having a British number plate !!! Mmmm maybe we're British! But all ended well. Left Toronto for Midland via the notorious Jane & Finch area!! We're still here!
Well we're still here! The only bear we came into contact with was Bear radio!!! Highway 17 took on a different aspect, after miles of dead straight roads at last the road began to twist and turn as it climbed its way round the edge of Lake Superior. Stunning views of the lake on the left and small lakes nestled amongst the trees to the right. On route to the provincial parks at Agawa Bay we stoppod at Pancake Bay's Indian craft centre, fascinating stuff on display including stuffed wolves and moose (yes they were real!).
