Hi all
We made it to Goa in one piece yesterday and this is how we did it...So, after Belur and Halebidu we set off towards Bhadravati - home of Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary. As the one and only local resort was fully booked we blagged our way into the Forest Ranger's office and convinced him to find us accommodation. He succumbed to our dusty scruffy unwashed charm (or thought god these guys need a wash!) and pulled some strings and found us a room nearby.
Since our last update we've been up to north of Goa (Anjuna) and have ridden all the way back down south some 650 kms to Kerala and this is what happened...So, we relaxed for a day in Palolem in south Goa and headed north to Panaji on 28th. Didn't like the busy-ness of Panaji so kept moving to find Calangute beach. Everything seemed more touristy and expensive to us in Calangute, so after a quick lunch we moved further north to find Anjuna beach.
So, after living it up in 20 quid beach front luxury, we continued a bit of a way further south on the coast road......and a few kilometres down the road we could hear loud drums and a party-atmosphere by the road-side. Naturally we had to check it out. It turned out there was a wedding going on and we got swamped by the party-makers and got dragged into the dancing that was going on. Ron P enjoyed his 5 minutes of fame by becoming an instant-celeb!!
From Ooty we took the less used more adventurous twisty mountainous road (as opposed to the National Highway) from 2200 metres down to 860 metres above sea level at Mudumalai National Park and Tiger Reserve.
So, its been a couple of weeks since we've been back home to the UK...I am so glad I went on this trip. I am very fortunate to have been able to afford to go on this trip, very fortunate to have a wife who understands me and my need for freedom and adventure. I know it wasn't easy for her stuck at home alone for a month. Very fortunate to have had a travel buddy like Ron P.
I have finally managed to mark out the route we travelled on. Blue path shows the beginning of our journey north to Goa before we turn around and come back south.
