Hello Everyone!

We are three friends (Ben UK, Kieran UK, Warren SA) travelling from Miami and through Central America and down into South America. Our trip is hoping to last around 6-8 months or until the money runs out! 

The idea began nearly a year ago, when we all three worked together and Kieran came up with the idea (not sure where it came from..?) to explore South America on bikes. We all thought it was rather good plan but not really sure if it was actually going to happen!

However as with all great ideas this one kept on coming up and before we knew it we had out bikes bought and plane tickets booked. We fly out in just over a weeks time to begin. 

We wanted to start a blog for the usual reasons, allowing family and friends to keep up with our progress and when its over and done with have a great way to look back at the adventure as this is surely a trip of a lifetime! 

But the third reason was to allow others who are interested in doing such a trip to have a read and learn from our mistakes, (I presume we are going to have many many steep learning curves with this, all part of the aventure!) . And would be nice to think we inspired others to undertake a similar trip. 

We spent a lot of time online googling other peoples trips and thankfully emailing a few who just gave such valuable information that we would of been lost without them! A big thank you to those guys! 

So at the moment we are all just figuring out a few last minute details, registering the bikes, getting travel insurance and packing ect ect Not sure how much detail to put in there with this part, If any one has any questions about these please don't hesitate to send us an email, we are by no means experts in this, more learning by trial and error, but any questions you have we'd love to try and help answer. 

Now the bike we are taking is the Kawasaki KLR 650, we settled on this bike for a couple of reasons, the fuel economy/range being high up on the list. We also wanted something rugged, something that we can drop/fall over/off (and pick up again by our selves) and this machine seemed to tick all these boxes. We purchased them from a dealership in Miami who have been extremely helpful and patient with all our questions, even offering to help us register them before we arrive in the country.
