INTRODUCING ME

I am in my mid-seventies and riding from Cortes first house in Santa Cruz, Mexico, to Tierra del Fuego.Hi, firstly thank you Grant for setting up this blog. I am privileged in writing for fellow bikers. I am in my mid-seventies and riding from Cortes’ first house in Santa Cruz, Mexico, to Tierra del Fuego. Why? I want to encourage others of a mature age to quit the comfort zone of a chair in front of the TV. We are not too old. Our funds are sufficient. The world exists to be explored. Let us meet new people, make new friendships.

Day One - Shipping the Bike

It is a beautiful sunny day in Vancouver and we are not ready yet. Patrick is busy scrubbing the bike clean and I am trying to tie up loose ends and finish packing. We have 4 hours before we leave to take the bike to the airport to get crated up.

Yanama to Huaraz

May 26, 2014:
Woke up early hoping to catch the morning light however it was overcast with dark clouds. Oh well, I took my time and enjoyed a nice breakfast, included. Got on the trail at 8:00 am. The bus drivers were not exaggerating, it's a rough road. Lots of rocks, pot holes, washouts and more rocks. A perfect place to blow out a tire.

Montana Ranch(Costa Rica) Mar 2010

I’m in Costa Rica as I had to leave and re-enter the USA to renew my B2 visa having already had a visa extension application turned down. I left my bike and most of my possessions in Montana where I was waiting out the winter until it was warm enough to travel again.

Shadows are strange, secret and magic things.I was obsessed with the following shadow of Max, Janet and me. The sun now, once a molten red apparition on the low hills to the east was now almost silver. A crow flashed silver as it took flight, wings changing in an instant from black to silver. The road ahead showing silver in the distance but the long black shadow consumed my interest.Mongolia 2

Okay, i have a few update to share. Sorry about the delay.

So, I think Patrick left off while we were in a Gites de France in Villeneuve Loubet on the Riviera. Well, i,m not thrilled with the Gite, it is a basement suite and the shower curtain and I have had many a fight as it likes to cling to you. Also for some reason the shower nozzle is hand held (please picture how you fight off the shower curtain wrapping around you and washing your hair at the same time with only one hand). So needless to say it was an interesting spot.
