I was informed I would have to leave hotel on Friday the 28th due to it being Carnival weekend in Ecuador and the rooms had been reserved. I spent Thursday looking for a place however there wasn't much available and what was, was sometimes four times the average rate. I found a place that had a storage room above the laundry. The owners said they would clean it out and let me have it for four days and then move into a regular room on Tuesday. Sounded good to me, it had a bathroom with running water. In a couple hours they had it cleaned out and a cot set up. The cot collapsed on me a couple times but I got it squared away. All is great!

Banos is famous for it's taffy. There are many shops like this one with the wood hook cut from a tree. It's used to hold the taffy while they pull and twist it.

During my first visit to Banos I met Poncho who owns a family restaurant named, Poncho's. He likes American music and his place has become my local hang out. The menu is mostly hamburgers and fries with locals being his main customers. People order their food, all verbal, no ticket and then when they are finished they tell Poncho what they had to eat and drink and he totals it up. It's all on the honor system.
