2005 - Cameroon, Gabon and Congo

Well it is fair to say that we both heaved a big sigh of relief when we approached the Nigeria/ Cameroon border and entering Cameroon meant we were finally in Central Africa.....now we are really getting somewhere!!The Cameroon border was perfect, just what you would expect a border in the rainforest to look like..... a series of huts on either side of an old iron bridge which spans the river separating the two countries!

The 'Island'(?) of Belize

On Valentines Day we said our Goodbyes to Mexico and crossed the bridge into Belize where we secured 1 weeks insurance for the bike and went for a tour around the duty free shopping zone before arriving at Belize immigration.

Belize (formerly British Honduras) has a population of approximately 230,000 people and gained independance from England in 1981, it has only just been recognised as an independant country by the Guatemalan Government.

hi all, thanks for your badgering to those who have been waiting for an update. Net access not easy to find when you're doing big distances. A Taste of Hollywood

Saturday 11th December 2010 – Arrived at the ferry at 1pm so had to wait for 4 hours before I could check-in. So I got talking to a couple of guys who were part of the film crew for “The Hunter”, a film starring Wilhelm Dafoe and Sam Neil. They were pretty funny and most put out by the thank you gift of a tea towel that had been given to all the crew. I also met up with some of the other bikers I’d met on the way out – like 2 of the WA boys and the group from Sydney.

Adios Mexico

Tuxtla Guitierrez is the capital city of Chiapas. It is quite modern and has a wonderful zoo where you can actually roam about with many of the animals. ZOOMAT was founded by Doctor Miguel Alverez Tores to ensure the preservation of the native animals and plants enabling the local indigenious people access to thier heritage.
