Things to do in Chitral when you're stuffed...

by connorcarson as part of UK to Turkey... oops, still going... India, Australia... RTW?.

I am reporting from the bustling metropolis of Peshawar where I have been thawing out after the last few days of subzero shenanigans. Here, for your edification and information , is how you land yourself squarely in the shit in Northern Pakistan....

What yetis?

by Sean Kelly as part of UK to Oz 2002-2003.

India can sometimes bring the fundamentals of life into sharp relief and watching whilst a family cremates grandma on an open bonfire of banyan wood alonside the River Ganges inevitably raised uncomfortable issues of our own mortality. So, it was with some relief that the clean, fresh Himalayan air of Nepal washed away granny's remaining smoke and ash from what's left of my hair as we entered Chitwan Wildlife Reserve.

DAY FOUR

by admin as part of RTW (ish!).

Day Four 1st September. 08

Retournac - Retournac

Miles to date. 769

We have had a great time today doing not a lot. Just enough to sort the luggage and let the bike fall over, again! Some fields are not level, you put your foot down and there is nothing where you expect to find it so...........over yer go! Why mess with the luggage, well the bike felt not quite right, so I re-arrange the weight loading and outed some stuff to send home or for Denis to bring back, maybe.
Lunch in Le Puy, Evening meal in the garden c/o ALDI with a drop of beer aint life hard?

Going on Safari

by admin as part of Around The World.

have searched the town and haven't been able to find any other bike travellers- or even any tourists except two, I was hoping to get info about the potential routes and roads(sandy tracks if I'm honest) ahead and I got some limited words of advice that if I follow the electricity wires to the north west of the town I will eventually reach the next settlement after 100kms.

September, 25, 2009. Belen, Argentina.
TUCAN'S, CAPIBARA'S AND THE ABRA DEL ACAY.

On the long way to the Panatanal we drove through farmland and we didn't see anything interesting for days, only the Brazilian version of Ayers Rock and some strange birds who must have been roll models for John Cleese's department of silly walks.
It was still very hot and Andy's helmet smelled like a hamster cage.

Guinea Bissau & Guinea- fowls & underpants

by admin as part of Two Australians riding through Africa, 2006-2007.

We pass men with machetes, women with stacks of hay balanced perfectly on their heads, young children clasping their mother's dress as we ride past in these remote villages. They stare at first with absolute shock & bewilderment until we wave & they smile back genuinely. In one day, I nearly hit a dog sleeping in one of the potholes, 2 chickens, a pig and a snake jumps near my bike...

Biker Celebrity Status

by admin as part of Around The World.

I reached Porto Seguro, where, by chance, there was a Bike Show - I was warmly welcomed as Star Guest - even though I did confess that I had no idea it was all taking place. I was in search of camping space - but was honoured to be given a bed in one of the organiser`s houses - I think they were appalled that their star guest would be camping.
