The Dead Sea

Lying at 1,305 feet below sea level, this land-locked sea is the lowest-elevation body of water in the world. It is renowned for its high concentration of natural salts and minerals which allow bathers to float with ease and is believed to heal skin problems, arthritis, rheumatism, headache, and foot ache. Set within the middle of the desert, this sea is rapidly shrinking due to evaporation and industrial exploitation.
