Departing Brisbane
I have just recently started this blog, whilst in Outback Queensland in the mining town of Mount Isa. For those who haven't been following my story on facebook I left Melbourne at the start of May and made my way up to Brisbane, where I planned to look for work to fund some more travelling.( I hope to document the first part of my journey on here when I get the chance.) I was only in Brisbane for a couple of days when I secured a job in an outback motel, which is the reason I ended up in Mount Isa, approximately 1800km from Brisbane. I done a phone interview on the Wed and left Brisbane on Thur morning as they needed me asap. I spent Wed packing and getting the bike ready. I met up with my mate Gerry who helped me change the oil. This was the first time I had carried this out myself but everyone told me it was very simple and the Manual had good instruction. Took less then 10min and it was very easy so no need to go to a garage in future. Gerry kindly offered to join me for the first part of my journey even though he would just be finishing a night shift at the fire station. He rode to Toowoomba with me, where we went our separate ways after a cuppa.
I had a sense of comfort leaving Melbourne knowing I had a friend in Brisbane that I could trust to be there if I had any problems and I had also made contact with a Biker in Sydney but when I left Toowoomba it was different I was off on my own into the outback. I wasnt quiet sure what to expect and the only other contact I have up this way was in Darwin about 1600km from the Isa. Its a strange feeling heading off into unfamiliar places where you don't know anyone, but its strange in a good way, fun, exciting and daunting all at the same time.
