Not Long Now !!!!!!!
Who also thought this was a good idea!!! 2 men, 2 motorbikes, 15,000 miles in 8 weeks, unsupported - it rolls off the tongue for us as well. I have been planning this trip for twelve months and we are down to our last 4 weeks and the butterflies are starting already !!.This is the first entry of many I hope, some by me and some done by our Paul. We want to raise awareness and some cash for The Childrens Society, so please feel free to make a donation either through us or in your own town/city.
We've come along way since the Idea was put into our heads, sorting out kit, paperwork, visa's etc. I will try and post all the lists so people can see exactly what we took , and what jabs we had!!. The trick with all the paperwork is to try and have everything just before you go. We got a brilliant company( thanks Elena) to arrange all the visa's. £500 each and well worth it. The thought of travelling to London and all the hassle of finding Embassies was not something we could realistically do. Jabs are one thing that suprised me. they cost us £230. Having looked at my kit, seems there's way too much. Our Paul assures me that it all fits in the panniers. The bikes are BMW's, so nuff said. One important document that you really must have is a V5 translation from the A.A. Its like a passport for your bike. We are hopeing to film the entire trip and put it on a DVD , not particullarly for monetry gain, but to have a record of the trip, although any money gained will fund our next outing no doubt. I just hope we can pull this off and get to Mongolia and back in 8 weeks. We will give it our best shot. I think we can do 355 miles a day quite easily, especially on these bikes, but foreign roads and road signs are worrying me somewhat !!. We'll be fine i'm sure. I must say a very big thanks to AstleBMW in Grimsby for clothing , advice and just being great people , especially Nigel, Sarah, Chris and Richard. Thanks to all the staff at Hein Gericke in Hull for all the Items they supplied us with, Nolan for helmets, Dogcam sports for the mini Helmet camera's and finally David Shipp at East Yorkshire Motor Services for allowing me to have the time off to go on this adventure. After looking through this fantastic web site on numerous occations it has come to my attention that we may bump into Helge Pedersen on his fourth globeriders tour coming the opposite way !!!!. how cool would that be !!! . Here are some links to the people who are supporting our adventure.
