by patandbin as part of 6months travelling, 6months Cairns from 1999-?.After 23 hours flight time from Sydney, Australia we arrive in Rio de Janeiro into the welcoming arms of George and Denise Bunker, HU communitee members for Rio, living on the opposite end of the bridge from Copacabana beach and away from the hustle and bustle. They invited us to stay with them and their dogs while we explored Rio and graciously offered to drive us to Tubate, 4 hours south where the Vstrom has been stored in George's lounge room for the past 6 months!
18th May Agua Amarga to Bocairent
by admin as part of BMW and Vincent trip London - Montpellier - London 2007.Later in the day I moved inland aiming towards the Comtat, again the landscape was not particularly thrilling, with miles of sun blasted featureless landscape covered in acres of plastic sheeted greenhouses where imported labour toils to feed the hunger of northern super market chains for year round fresh products.Another carefree day, trundling slowly home north up the coastal roads was the prospect that tore me away from the peaceful idyll of Agua Amarga.

by admin as part of South America / Mexico 2005/2006.Finally I left Argentina (probably for the last time during this journey) and entered Chile. After all the Patagonian flatlands I was really happy to enter the south chilenan landscape of huge forests, mountains and lakes.

by Redwineracing as part of To America and Beyond.Sunday 19th July
Warm and cloudy again today, a short ride to Arcadia National park where are annual pass came in handy again. A very beautiful place to ride and as its Sunday and holiday season very busy as well.
From there we went to Bar Harbor for lunch, I tried some lobster as so many people have said its the best, sadly it was not a patch on any I have had in England.
MYANMAR MAR 2004
by patandbin as part of 6months travelling, 6months Cairns from 1999-?.We left the gorgeous islands of Thailand for the dirty Myanmar border town called Kawthoung and nearly did an about face! The land borders are just starting to open to tourists and we only saw one other tourist in the 10 days that we toured the southern arm of Myanmar. The people were as friendly as the Thais, but there subtle differences were: the mud coating on their faces to protect them from the sun; most of the men wore sarongs (like a long skirt) and the women would carry heavy loads on their head and do most of the physical labour, ie construction.

by admin as part of RTW 2000 - ?.Hello what is it your name boss, where you from
Manchester? Michael Owen?
Bali's actually quite a nice place. I don't know why,
but I was expecting it to be awful. There's a few
tourists (me included) here for sure, and there's way
too much traffic, which makes getting about a hassle
(same as much of Indonesia). It's got some beautiful
countryside, though, cool culture and great beaches,
and the tourist centre (Kuta) has got everything you
need to have a good time before bedtime (and possibly
after).
Via Chiapas to the Pacific Coast
by admin as part of South America / Mexico 2005/2006.I really liked Mérida and the tranquil accomodation (a rare thing in Mexico) but Mexico is huge and I have only two months. So after two nights I hit the road again, heading southwest, passing by Campeche and entering Chiapas at Palenque. There were 3 military checkpoints on the road but only one stopped me and kind of searched my luggage. However, these were very young guys (with German G-3 rifles) and I was about to ask them why they stop me - is it because European motorcycle tourists are notorious for arms smuggling? Well, I didn't ask - better run no risks.. ;-)

by Redwineracing as part of To America and Beyond.Took my bike to the freight yard today where it will be crated and air freighted to Orlando. It felt very strange wheeling my bike in to the warehouse and handing over the key. Starting to feel a little nervous now. It's not a dream anymore.

by patandbin as part of 6months travelling, 6months Cairns from 1999-?.16 Sept 2002- Arequipa
We have just downloaded our camera, so photos finally for those that dont know what our bike looks like!!
Well the Nasca lines were amazing. We went to a few museums to find out what they are and no-one knows for sure- its a mystery- drawings in the Peruvian Desert so large they are only visible by air!! There were also thousands of three thousand year old mummies burried and lots of grave robbing going on. See photo of Pat 'playing' with some skulls we found on the ground!

by admin as part of Economics of a Motorcycle, Beijing, Xian and Shanghai.June 4th 2006 - The same day as the Anniversary of Tiananmen Square I set out my own in an attempt to cross China by motorcycle. I did not have a license to operate a motorcycle in China, speak the language or even have a motorcycle. I will tell you not only how I was able to travel from Beijing through Xian to Shanghai by motorcycle but what I experienced along the way.So I guess I should begin at the beginning.
