New Mexico

Sunday 22 March
After a very bad dose of food poisoning I am feeling much better my stomach muscles are a little stiff. Heading off for Roswell New Mexico today the weather started off sunny but it soon turned very cold and windy. Despite the cold winds we had a fantastic ride through the last of the Texas hill country, even when it ran out and returned to the long straight roads the scenery was fantastic and the weather eventually warmed up. Roswell was not quite what I expected but then again I'm not sure what I expected. As it was only ever meant to be a stop over on our way we did not spend any time searching for UFO's or aliens and as it was just another large town I was quite happy to be back on the road.

Monday 23rd March
We had a change of plan and headed off to Albuquerque only about 180 miles north. Again when we set off the weather was fantastic but once on the open road there was a strong icy cold wind with nowhere safe to stop to put some warmer clothing on as all there was to stop on was a narrow hard shoulder that vehicles pull over on too to let other vehicles overtake, so parking up on that seemed like a bad idea. It took us about 80 miles before we found a place to stop in a very run down town with not a lot else other than a petrol station. We asked where we could get a coffee and was told there was a cafe about 5 miles down the road. So we got back on the bike and headed off. Another 80 miles later still no sign of the cafe and we were freeeeeeeezing. We eventually found somewhere for a bite to eat and some hot coffee. Now a tad warmer we headed off to Sandia park tramway Albuquerque.image.jpg
