I didn't know what to expect at Assisi. As we approached Mt. Subasio in the Umbria region, you could see the walled town of Assisi.

Ireland & Wales (& England again)

by SKILLO as part of Round the World - in Stages.

Skill bought our tickets for the ferry and came back to the bike fuming. "They are a mob of thieving B*****" They had quoted him a price for bike, rider and passenger, but when buying the ticket the price went up because suddenly I was not considered a pillion passenger on the bike but a walk on passenger and charged accordingly. There was a cheaper price for a passenger in a car, but a bike passenger was a walk-on at a higher price. Then they didn’t even give us a separate ticket so I couldn't walk on anyway!! Skill always feels these injustices towards bikers very personally.

5. Las Vegas

by chrisd as part of Around the World 2008....

"Las Vegas Blvd" as the sign says or a short stretch of it is what makes LAS VEGAS

Rode along Interstate 40 and then onto Route 93 to Las Vegas via the Hoover Dam. Easy ride with some excitement approaching the Hoover Dam, Police were stopping all vehicles in both directions going over the Dam especially RV's, Vans and Trucks, they waved me through (missed again) so I could not ask what was going on, probably because my bike is not capable of carrying enough fertiliser to be worthy of their attention.
