So far this web site has been clearly less than advertised. We've grappled with poor phone service and a busted iBook power adapter. But now we're ready to roll.

Uganda - Jan 15, 2016

by Rigby as part of Let the journey begin... .

January 15, 2016:
Crossed into Uganda on January 13. The weather has taken a turn for the worse and it looks like I might be held up here in Kisoro for a few days. Not much going on, however I've got a decent place to stay with a restaurant and cold beer.
Checking out of Rwanda:

Another Busy Day

by JediCoe as part of 40th Birthday Morocco.

Late last night I discovered that Morocco operates on GMT all year round. What I thought was 9 or maybe 8 AM was actually 7AM. Not so critical of the late mornings, whoops. After a genuine lie in this morning until a real 8am I went to a cafe in town for breakfast and then set off for what was intended to be a slow speed exploration of minor roads in the Middle Atlas with a relaxed intent to reach either Midelt or if time allowed Er-Rachidia. True to the plan I turned off the wonderful tarmac of the RN13 and headed off a little yellow road.

How Pedestrian!

by admin as part of Around the World in 82 Liters.

I'm still in Japan. Tomorrow, I head for Hong Kong....I'm still in Japan. Tomorrow, I head for Hong Kong, with a follow-on visit to Shenzhen, China to visit a company that has asked me to consider hanging up my helmet and consulting with them for a while after this tour is over. Little do they know I bought a BMW F650GS Dakar prior to leaving the States from the good folks at Ride West BMW in Seattle, WA, so that I'd have a smaller, "somewhat more nimble" adventure-tourer in the wings for future rides in the Americas, and maybe Africa! Helge, are you reading this (hint, hint)?

Day 11

Buena Vista, Colorado, to Westminster, Colorado

135 miles

2501 total miles

Both of your earnest motorcyclists were looking forward to weekend visits by our spouses. Bill's wife Laurel and Bo's wife Fifi were scheduled to fly into Denver and spend a couple of days with us visiting Estes Park and other Denver area attractions. Unfortunately, Fifi developed a respiratory ailment inherited from their teenagers and was unable to make the trip.

Istanbul, Turkey

by davidmc as part of Paris to Sydney, 2005-2006.

Erika must have her coffee. Luckily there's a restaurant just before the border crossing into Turkey. And fortuitously a pair of bikers show up to keep Dave entertained while E gets her caffeine fix. Though their English is limited, this father-son team from Hungary speak the universal language of motorcycle. We're impressed by their printed-up itinerary of a 2 year world tour, and that they are choosing to have this adventure together as family.

Awesome Mountain Fun

by JediCoe as part of 40th Birthday Morocco.

What a spectacular day of riding! Took the N630 (need to check that road number later) from Vinaroz to Zaragoza this morning and the sections around Morella were fantastic. Trying to keep pointing North but staying off AutoVia as much as possible was the plan. Hooked around Zaragoza on the motorway and then took the N230 (another one to check) after Huesca (nice little town where i stopped for coffee) and headed firmly into the mountains. Got up pretty high through the ski resorts and there was still plenty snow around but the roads were clear and the views stunning.

Ricardo Maduro

by admin as part of Central and South America.

My grandfather, Charles Burrows, was the United States Ambassador to Honduras from 1960 to 1965. My father spent holidays and summers there during that time and my aunt spent some of those years there full time, attending school with other children of influential families. One of these children was Ricardo Maduro, who was friends with my dad and dated my aunt for a while. He went on to become the President of Honduras from 2002 to 2006.

Paris, France

by davidmc as part of Paris to Sydney, 2005-2006.

We couldn't have had a nicer start to our time in France than being able to stay with Dave's friends Tony and Caroline in their cute little Parisian flat, conveniently located just steps away from the kebab house and the croissant bakery.

Aus to Luderitz

by Rigby as part of Let the journey begin... .

May 27, 2015:
Got a good nights rest and took my time getting on the trail. The plan was to ride to Luderitz and stay a day or two if I liked it, mostly hoping to find wifi and wash some cloths.
This guy seemed to keep a close eye on whatever was gong on, which wasn't much.
