Hello Switzerland - Grüezi mittenand!
Country

We had to find the best way to get into Switzerland, we did. Müstair, a small border town at Switzerland´s extreme south east where they speak Romanche, the fourth Swiss official language.

We crossed The Biosfera Val Müstair and Swiss National Park, beautiful. We kept going west and try to cross Albula pass, closed with snow. After enjoying St Moritz Lake we took the road to Julier Pass; from my point of view this Alpine pass is like whole Switzerland, perfect road, perfect curves, perfect mountains… Everything is perfectly beautiful.

After Thusis we headed south, we had to take the St Bernardino tunnel because the mountain pass was also closed, we ended up in Locarno, Lago Magiorre, where we visited a very dear friend, Wilma, my mother´s youth best friend. Great feelings and talks.

We visited the beautiful Verzasca Valey, Ascona, Locarno and next day headed north to Luzern; here we made plans for our next life together.

Because of the rain, we could not go up St. Gottard pass that divide the Italian and German Switzerland; we had to take the 18km tunnel, quite an experience, not as bad as I expected, the temperature increased from 20 to 35 degrees at the middle of the tunnel.

In Bern we met Andy, Ale´s son that is studying and working in Switzerland.

Ale took the train to Zurich, Andy and I on the bike rode to Entlebuch Biosphäre, Sörenberg where Andy studied and then enjoyed an amazing region full of trees and hills on a very narrow road (Panorammastrasse). We wanted to cross Sustenpass, it was closed, as well as the more difficult Furkapass. We took the highway to Zurich. Great day.

We enjoyed Wilma's hospitality and love for a couple of days, now in Zurich, her home town.

Depending on the year, I would say that around June 15th may be the best time for Alpine passes, warm weather and snowy landscape, nothing better. I would come back and do all the passes like a yo-yo, they are the best in life: Italian, Austrian, Swiss and French ones.
