French Riviera on our way to Italy
Country
From Barcelona to Montpelier long boring highway, already in France we began to pay multiple tolls.
Automatic gas stations charge you 100 euros on your card and give you back the difference one week later, do not use debit cards, only credit cards, they won´t be able to revert a debit card payment.
Nice hotel in Carnon by the sea close to Montpelier. We skipped Marsella and took and alternate road: Aubagne A52, Tolon A50 and D98 (very nice) to Saint Tropez. Unsuccessfully we tried to blend with the high society… Then we kept riding to a small town for a very quiet night in a small house (Villa Sam) of a small town (Vidaubam).
Next day we could not miss Cannes, Jet-Set again the famous Festival was on (May 24th). Up the hill on the bike to the Castle hoping not to be caught by the police.
To keep ourselves up to the same level we went to Monaco, Friday before the F1 Grand Prix. Blocked streets everywhere, we rode ten times around the multiple tunnels and underground roundabouts trying to see the F1 cars and get somewhere. We enjoyed it and ended eating cold pizza on a hilly street where I struggled to park the loaded bike and from where we could see some far action…
Au revoir France, we are in Italy, crowded highway, lots of tunnels, not nice at all for the moment. We rested in Savona.
