Czech Republic and Medieval tales
Country
We did not know what to expect, this country was a mystery for us. We met a couple of Czech Harley friends that gave us a non conventional route but I felt that I had to spend some more time on it. Finally we found our first destination and it helped us fix the route… Czesky Krumlov.
I have worked all my life with wheat and its by-products, Austria´s farewell was the beginning of thousands of kilometers of golden wheat, barley and rye fields with a resulting increased hearth rate on me.
We took the road to Horn, Schrems, Neu Nagelberg and entered Czech Republic through “Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area”, then we got lost between hills because of road works and finally arrived to the unbelievable town of Český Krumlov.
It was like being inside a medieval movie, it was not only the city itself; without planning we coincided with the “Five-Petalled Rose Celebrations” a full 3 day program of medieval shows, tales and customs. We were amazed; from the King to the joker, from the knight to the concubine, everybody was there.
We had to keep going, our obvious next destination was Prague, we took the highway but it was enjoyable. Too much city for two tired bikers, too many places to visit. We had a pleasing appointment with Salvador Dali, Piet Mondrian, Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro, quite a surprising date.
After going around the city as much as our feet could bear, still hungry and thirsty of Czech Republic, we decided to continue our ride to Germany.
