Holland, here we go.
Country
Finally we were heading to The Netherlands, the decision was 350km of Autobahn, we did not enjoy the ride but we wanted to get to Amsterdam early.
The city is nice, the romantic water channels and beautiful architecture contrasts with the constant smell of weed and the excessive promiscuity. This is not a city for us, we enjoyed it briefly and kept going.
We planned to be in Holland for a few days only, we found a route to regain mind peacefulness. First a castle, one of the nicest ones, Muiderslot.
Then we had to enjoy some water, we took the road to Kortenhoef and find a way through the Loosdecht lakes, incredible zone with several lakes separated by narrow roads with houses and harbors all along. What a peace, it was like taking a nap on 2 wheels and dream about paradise. Afterwards we kept enjoying the country side on route N210
There is no Holland without wind mills, so much wheat seen along 3 countries needed a sight of these ancient flour production plants… Kinderdijk, eight wonderful wind mills aligned between water channels with Lotus flowers and birds, just delightful. We managed to get to the backyards, park our bike and walk away from the touristic crowd.
We got to a point where the GPS got me confused, I could not find the road, after some turns around the area I noticed a small ferry to cross the river from Gouderak to Moordrecht.
About 20 years ago I spent a couple of days working in Gouda, I never forgot it; I had to take Ale to this place. It is not only the famous cheese... It is a charming medium size town full of transparent water channels, flowers and tradition. I have never seen so many cheese varieties in my life, but, just between us, Swiss fondue was better.
Next day we would cross the Belgian border.
