On July 2, 2004, three brave and daring men will embark on a motorcycle journey of epic proportions. An Odyssey of sorts.

One rider, the intrepid Nelson Biddle, is going cross-country. His route will take him from Townsend, Tennessee, across the heartland of America and all the way to the Koella fishing camp in Alaska.

Day 2

Date of update

Maybe Chopper's untimely demise brought us bad weather karma. Whatever the reason, we drove through a lot of rain on Day 2. We were in the saddle for 280 miles today and at least 220 of them were in the rain. But we're not complaining. After all, our readers are home working and we're not.July 3, 2004

Day 5

Date of update

Although it didn't start out that way, today turned out to be a great day. We hit the road before 8:00 am. Once again, we faced dark skies and a not-so-good weather forecast. Added to that were cold temperatures. For those of you sweltering in the hot, humid South, we apologize. It was 57 degrees in Mitchell, South Dakota, when we left the motel.Mitchell, South Dakota, to Rapid City, South Dakota

Day 6

Date of update

Today was special in a couple of ways. First, the more pedestrian reason. Since we were returning to the same motel we didn't have to pack everything up and load it on our bikes. Second, it was tourist day for treshomres2004.Rapid City, South Dakota, back to Rapid City, South Dakota

We said goodbye to Nelson this morning. The last we saw he was riding down I-90 enroute to Alaska.

Day 8

Date of update

Yesterday, we decided to slowly meander back to Nashville by putting in limited milage and stopping frequently to enjoy whatever roadside attractions we came across. So what did we do? We had our biggest ride of the trip today, 380 miles, and didn't stop to see much of anything. We didn't stop because the ride was wonderful.Sturgis, South Dakota, to O'Neil, Nebraska

Day 9

Date of update

When we decided to visit Nebraska we did so for one reason only; to add it the list of states we have been to. We planned to hit a small corner of the state and get out as quickly as possible. After all, who wants to drive for hundreds of miles in a straight line through cornfields and more cornfields. Well, we were wrong about Nebraska.O'Neil, Nebraska, to Omaha, Nebraska

Day 10

Date of update

We left Omaha a little late this morning, not departing until 9:00. Since we lack Nelson's legendary virile manliness, we needed a little extra rest after two fairly rigorous days. So we both slept late. Once on the road we found Highway 75, designated scenic by whomever makes those decisions.Omaha, Nebraska, to Independence, Missouri

We had another late start today. We left our motel at around 8:30 and went out in search of a real breakfast. Motel continental breakfasts are nice and all but we needed more. The one thing we didn't need, after yesterday, was gravy.

After breakfast we set out for the Truman Presidential Museum and Library.

Day 12

Date of update

We made our way into Arkansas today, the eighth state visited by the remaining treshombres2004 team. Nelson made his way to several more states during his journey from South Dakota to Alaska.Neosho, Missouri, to Jonesboro, Arkansas
