Oberägeri to Bern
Country

Hey everyone

After saying good byes and tinkering with my motorcycle for about a month now, it feels good to be on my way. I do feel a bit nervous though. I can't believe all my stuff actually fits on the bike. It'll be weird not to have the safe harbour of my parents' garage anymore. But that is the whole point of getting out on the road (so far my aunt's apartment in Bern) I suppose.

The prep time has been well invested - I'm still a long shot from being a mechanic but I do understand a bit more after having spent a week with Götti Paul in the garage working on King Kong (that's my bikes street name :).

Leaving the garage

I'm looking forward to the ways ahead and will keep you posted here and write when there's Internet.

Hugs all around

Chris

Take care. A swedish citzen was recently relased after 6 years as hostage. Catch by a group, for economical reason. They require money to release their hostages. Buisness.

Have a GREAT trip Chris, and ignore the gloom and doomies...

Are there any updates/links to this trip?

Valuable advice there from Erik_G.

Much better to stay at home and watch TV. But do watch out for heart disease, stroke, cancer, dementia etc. And, when you are crossing the street, buses. It may be better not to cross the street at all. Or even to go outside, you could be struck by lightning.

That's one way to get the most from your one life. You won't live forever but it might feel like it, so why not give it a try?

And please never use a vehicle with less than four wheels. Didn't your mother tell you, motorbikes are dangerous?

Why worry about kidnapping? Mostly it doesn't happen. The bad things that do happen are due to local drivers, diseases and biting insects. They happen a lot.

Having clearly taken leave of my senses I'm out in Africa on two wheels, just crossed the Sahara, and enjoying the experience of a lifetime. How stupid am I?

And if I meet my destiny here, at least I won't end my days shuffling around with a zimmer frame and die with a tube up my nose.  We're all going to die Erik. In the meantime some of us want to live.
