On the road
Monday at 8:00 I was at the customs, (Zull), office and it took only 10 minutes to process the paperwork. He did not even mention that Green Card was a copy, (insurance and is really pink). Had the bike out and on the road by 8:30 with gps set to Worms, mostly because it was easy to spell and in the general direction I wanted to go for a couple of days to see some old castles. Weather is not great but when the sun does come out it is almost perfect.
I speak about ten words of German so things can get interesting but English is widely spoken. It is required course in high school, specifically American English.
The farms and small villages neat and clean like they had been set up for a movie set. Several time I would just head down a side road off a side road to see where it would lead to and then after awhile just follow the gps back to where I was headed.
Some day I need to come back and do a better job of seeing this country as I have to keep reminding myself that I was to be heading to Morocco.
Germany, should put this picture on a calender
Walled city of Trier, sun was out here so I got a few pictures.
View from the top of the gate tower, originally there was water in the mote and a draw bridge. most of this was built in 12th century.
Countryside around Kiel, this is the area that my Grandfather came from about 105 years ago.
Kiel, city center
I was real close to Denmark so I rode up to Tonder for lunch.
Tractors are commonly on the road hauling goods. I have seen no dump trucks as we have but several tractors pulling dump trailers with 10-12 yds of rock. The tractors here have suspension so they can run higher speeds.
This is a really nice hotel I stayed in last night, cost 45 E$ and came with a good breakfast then unlike most places that don't want you to take food out, he had me make a sandwich, take a yogurt and banana for lunch. This is the point where the American forces met the Russian forces as WWII was coming to an end.
Cattle
Much more I could write but it is getting late and I wanted to get a post in. I am now in Charleville France. Will be heading south to the Pyrenees mountains between France and Spain. If the weather is good I will spend a few days there, then out to the north coast of Spain and Portugal before crossing to Morocco.
