Venezuela 1 2014

by patandbin as part of 6months travelling, 6months Cairns from 1999-?.

Exiting Brazil at Santa Elena, the border office is easy to miss. Its a building on the right with a sign saying "Stop Police Check". There is no TIP paperwork needed for motorcycles entering or exiting Brazil. Entry stamps INTO Venezuela are in a portable office on the left and the TIP (temporary import permit) is in the building on the right. After presenting all motorcycle paperwork we were told in Spanish that we needed a permit issued in the next town 20km north IN Venezuela.

2nd Jan 2008 - The first week on (or indeed not) the road

by admin as part of Kirst and Henry's Big Trip 2008.

Day 1
The setting off was liable to be somewhat chaotic with lots turning up to see us off (make sure we went more like). Trip down with Raymondo in the van was just nice to chill out. Dragged bikes out of van to find first problemo- i had left my topbox keys on the kitchen worktop- so now was unable to access the topbox to retrieve my helmet and gloves. Oh how we laughed. Arranging with Dave by phone to send the keys to Bilbao we boarded the "Pride of Bilbao". Air con on the boat killed me so i was an unhappy bunny, so enough of that, Kirst put up with me very well.Day3

Shopping

by admin as part of Ron and Rockets Birthday Tour 2008.

The following morning after a good nights sleep some breakfast and cups of tea, we started the bm up and headed out to do some food shopping and sight seeing. Our first stop was the village of Issogne. A small village with a few market stalls selling fruit and veg, a mobile fish and meat stall and a corner shop. There was also some kind of church which was full of tourist's looking around. We then rode off to the Town of Verres found a supermarket and done some food and wine shopping.

Dr Evermor's Forevertron

by Redwineracing as part of To America and Beyond.

Sunday 5th July
Another sunny day, loading the bike up this morning outside the hotel was covered in a swarm of dead or dying insects. Apparently they were fishfly's and they have this problem throughout the months of July and August and have to clean them up nearly every day.

This flight will be boarding in 24 hours and 50 minutes

by admin as part of India - Africa 2010.

A quick check through the baggage and paperwork, for the umpteenth time, shows the following to be my closest friends for the coming year.
I am over-prepared for this little trip. If I had jumped on a plane 2 weeks ago, or even a month ago, I would probably have been prepared enough. But since I'm still here I've looked through that little red bag of mine a dozen times, adding things and taking things away.

Here are some of things that have been considered over the past few months

Iran

by colin masters as part of Wrinklies Wround the World 2006-2007.

Petrol cheaper than waterWe waved byebye to Mount Arrarat, the mountain guide who had 14 children ( and had promised his mother to have 20 !) and 3 English lads who were cycling from London to Bejing.
The hip flask was drained and a book swap managed ( very important ).
We changed money to Rials and ,for once in our life were millionaires, as there are 16000 rials to 1GBP.

Colin went into the Iran weather on the Net and was very impressed- as you can get the weather for the actual piece of road you are travelling.
