Bound up in Baja
by admin as part of Americas Trip 2006 - 2007.I am still in Baja because of engine problems.I was all packed up and ready to get on the ferry for Mazatlan, but the bike didn't want to go. It refused to start. Luckily, a friend was there with his pickup truck and we hauled the bike to his aunt's restaurant/cabana in Cabo Pulmo for the holiday. We'll check in at the BMW dealer when they open on Jan 4.

by admin as part of Around The World. It was hard but we finally made the break after several fantastic weeks. We followed a really picturesque valley road heading west away from Bishkek and with a couple of snow-covered 3000m mountain passes as a reminder of how cold we have been at times, It should be much flatter conditions from now on. A final lone Golden eagle flew over as we approached the border to Kazakhstan, but here we ran into a problem, the soldier wouldn't let us pass and announced Kazakhstan was closed.

Week 7 - Sidi Akhfennir in Morocco to El Ouatia in Morocco
Monday morning after another lovely breakfast, courtesy of Lila, I tried to phone the hospital to see if we could resolve the medical certificate / police problem, but a combination of my bad French, their limited English and a bad phone line didnt get us very far. So we were left with no option but to travel the hour back to Tarfaya and go back to the hospital.

by admin as part of South American motorcycle diary 2008-2009 .There are many different ways to cross from Panama to Columbia. One of the most difficult is to stay on the mainland and cross the jungle. There are some reports that it has been done by motorbike. The first time, some guys did it in 1975. Recently, I only heard of some hikers doing it. There seems to be a small path through the jungle. One has to join some local drug dealers or guerilla to walk with them so it may be extremely dangerous.

by AndyT as part of USA to Central/South America.Final thoughts on AntiguaAntigua is really unlike any other place in Guatemala, whether that is good or bad depends on your point of view. It is touristy, the high end restaraunts have menus in English and prices in dollars. Of course that means you can get a decent cup of coffee and a slice of New York cheesecake anytime you want it, not to mention being able to see the Packers on Monday Night Football at a sports bar, even though the Bengals handed them their asses, but it also means that you aren't seeing what most of Guatemala is like if this is the only place you go.

If you come here you must visit the museo de insurrecion; a personal collection of Sandanista memorabilia. Check out the mural beside the cathederal. Eat at Taqueztal Bar Cafe.
Saturday 22nd May 2010
by admin as part of Intermittent RTW Dream. After a 281 mile journey of mountain roads, I'm unsure as to which sure country I'm in, but thinks Barga is in North West Portugal near the Spanish border. The winding roads made it unable to exceed 30 mph making it a long 10 hour ride on 'Nomad'. A halfway sleep by the roadside was required. The campsite is located high in the mountains in dense forest and im hoping to hear the wolves tonight. The locals speak a unique language, one I dont recognised. I think maybe it's the accent and compare it to the Portuguese equivalent of scouse.
