Amsterdam and the NL
by admin as part of European Adventure. So we have done 4 days in the Netherlands: We ended up in Broek in Waterland to stay for 3 nights at a B and B for a very reasonable 35 euros: We spent one day in Amsterdam seeing the tourist spots and then a trip out to Groesbeck/Arnhem for some Canadian war history.

by Ian Moor as part of Wrong Way Round The World.I hadnt done much research into my route from Bolivia to Arica on the Chilean coast due to the lack of WiFi and not meeting any travellers coming in the opposite direction. I knew the route was paved which is why I chose it but beyond that I only had my maps to rely on and maps for this part of the world tend to have various inaccuracies for one reason or another. I was planning on heading north on the Pan Americana Highway from Oruro to Patacamaya then turning west onto highway 108 which becomes highway 11 at the Chilean border.

Day 25

235 miles

All good things must pass. But not without a fight.
Although Day 25 marks the end of this wonderful journey, we decided that the adventure wouldn't end until we reached Nashville.
As the day began we faced a big decision. Do we make an out-of-the-way trip to the BMW Motorcycle dealer in Cape Girardeau and buy a new tire for Bill's bike or do we take a big chance and drive on to Nashville? We drove on to Nashville. After all, this is an adventure.

Food seems to be available anytime... anywhere! Stalls just spring up, especially at night, selling all sorts of tummy tucker!
The Nasi Lemak was something I had to try...a breakfast dish consisting of rice, peanuts, crunchy dried fish, cucumber and a curry sauce. To a Western stomach, this was not the stuff of my dreams...but it's something that has to be tried!

My original plan was to go to French Guiana see the prisons and then head back to Colombia. I decided to keep riding to Macapa Brazil and then take a boat up the Amazon to Manaus. I didn't want to ride the Hell road again and taking a boat up the Amazon was high up on the bucket list. Allen had made the run before and told me it's a good ride. Sounded more fun than turning around.
day 1 Success?
by JediCoe as part of 40th Birthday Morocco.Well I made it onto the ferry so it is all systems go.
Apparently a weekend of drinking and theme parks is not the ideal body preparation so my old bones were complaining after only fifty miles! only 4950 to go!
Big Pete is free to laugh since the first technical/crap preparation issue hit after 8 miles. minor cable reroute of ipod and intercom cables required a short stop!
miles so far: 154

297 Miles
1002 Total Miles
Another day of sunshine. And facing us, the plains of Kansas, over 500 miles of not much. Not or so we thought.
Although farm fields, loooong straight-aways and flat terrain are not most Tennesseans idea of beauty, southern Kansas has been great fun. The people are nice to strangers, the natural beauty is subtle and the roads are great. By the way, I don't think we've mentioned that we are avoiding interstates whenever at all possible.

by davidmc as part of Paris to Sydney, 2005-2006.There is something about border towns. Perhaps if you ran into them in the middle of the country they would seem less disquieting, more common. Perhaps it is only one's heightened anticipation of change, one's alertness to potential of the unfamiliar, that creates a perception that there is different light and shadows.

by Rigby as part of Let the journey begin... .January 06, 2016:
The first night in Rwanda I stayed in the capital city of Kigali and then the next morning rode to the village of Kamembe, at the southern end of Lake Kivu. The roads are good and the country is all hills and mountains so it makes for great riding. One thing that really stands out is how clean and well kept the country is. I was told that littering is illegal and that plastic bags are not allowed in the country. It's really impressive as to how clean it is.
The weather was a bit overcast and there was some light rain so I stayed in Kamembe another day.
