Thursday 19th February
On our way to meet Bob & Jude at Melbourne Beach we stopped for some petrol and it came to $6.66 ooer the sign of the devil we laughed.
We got to the beach ok although it was a cold ride temp had dropped to 7c still bright blue skies. We arrived a little early and as there was a Starbucks on the corner we went in for a coffee and a warm up.
Sent a text to Bob to let them know we were there. At about 12:00 there was a bit of activity at the entrance with staff rushing in and out grabbing a first aid kit.

Email hacked

We are writing to let you know we have fallen for a yahoo look alike email to upgrade. We clicked on it, put our email address and password in and wham..they had everything they needed to delete our contacts, inbox and folders with all our details! Somehow they also got into our hotmail account as well.

They also wrote to all our contacts saying we are in Manila and in trouble and need money. This is a scam. We are in Mexico, not in trouble and do not need any money...

May 2008 - First adventure on a rebuilt BSA

Until such a time as I get the time to do a big trip again, a quick entry on this little beasty. It's a '38 B21 which I spent a year re-commisioning from a ton of pieces. I've been clocking up a few miles, and one weekend in May 08 set off on the longest trip yet, down to London to visit my brother, visiting the old stomping ground of High Beach, and go to the Vincent Black Shadow day at the Ace Cafe.

I left Puyuhaipi (or whatever this place was called) during a short rain pause - and arrived 200 km later completely soaked in Chaitén. The last 50 km had been like driving though a very long car wash, just without getting cleaner. Luckily in Rita's place, a very basic and low-budget but cosy hostel, there was a kind of fireplace where I could dry my stuff.

Getting back on track

As I need a log book to apply for my EDP at least a month before we leave and it might take the insurance 2 months to decide if they are going to write the bike off or not and if in 2 months I had to get another bike and wait for the log book to be transferred to my name I would have very little time to arrange the EDP and shipping of the bike So I decided to bite the bullet and have put a deposit down on a 2009 F800GS with only 900 miles on the clock. Hopefully once the insurance pays out for my 2014 bike I should be able to recoup my losses.

NEXT TRIP 2006

Well things are underway for our next trip around the world to catch up with everyone! Tickets are booked and bags are starting to get packed. Pats son Johnathan is coming to Cairns for the month of December and then we take off to Thailand with 18 year old Kate in tow (she is very excited!!). We will spend 6 weeks in Thailand and Laos, then fly to Rome, then Barcelona, then Majorca, then Madrid, then Seville, Spain to pick up our motorbike that has been in storage for a year.

Calafate

Just before Chrismas 2005The reason for the existence of the tourist town of Calafate is the Perito Moreno glacier. So I spent two nights there and took the time to enjoy the glacier unhurriedly and wait for a greater piece breaking off - just to take some fotos of it. Some people spend days there with the camera ready to shoot but miss the crucial moment. I waited for maybe an hour and then told a couple next to me that I was going to leave now and therefore of course something spectacular was about to happen (when I was gone).

Homeless

I Went out for a fair well drink at the station inn on Friday with some friends from 3t had a great night and slept on the floor of an empty house. It felt very strange leaving my home on Saturday. And leaving it for some body else to live in. It's now Sunday and I have another hangover from another good night out with friends. Off to Mum's today to unload the bike and get the van sold.

Ooops,sorry - forgot to put into the last blog that we had visited the home of gliding at Wasserkruppe, Germany. Colin wanted to visit it as he has done some gliding in the past. (it's his hobby - that's why i forgot! )
