Alice Springs 2

by admin as part of RTW 2006-????.

Bolivia (Samaipata) to Peru (Curucuito)

by SKILLO as part of Round the World - in Stages.

Samaipata will go down on our favourites list. We spend 5 days here enjoying the tranquil, peaceful surroundings. The evening we arrive we find a bar and to our delight share the evening with fellow Aussie and former resident of Brisvegas, Kirsty. She and her husband Dave own and run the delightful “La Boheme” Bar on the main square. Kirsty is a Samaipatian enthusiast and gives us her take on the best food in town, which happens to be across the road at “La Cocina” run by 2 Istanbulians.. The food is a Mexican/Turkish fusion and although incredibly simple, it is amazing.

El Cuco, El Salvador to Panajachel, Guatemala

by SKILLO as part of Round the World - in Stages.

We wake late, because we are tad tired from our huge day yesterday and also because it is still quite dark outside due to the black storm clouds and pouring rain. I also realise it is my birthday.Well I can't think of a better place to spend it. We head out for breakfast after cleaning up the water on the floor (obviously our roof leaked in the torrential downpour last night, seems to be a theme happening here), and meet up with Ben and Maurice. We enjoy a fabulous breakfast and spend the morning chatting. By lunch time the rain has abated and I head to the pool for a lazy afternoon.

Syria - 2

by admin as part of Round the World.
Damascus (08-08-2000) till Aleppo (14-08-2000)

Back to Syria. I reached the Syrian border at 1.30pm. and went through the hassle to get out of Jordan and into Syria. I was ready for a battle as the first time I entered Syria I had to buy a one month insurance for the bike (minimum) which was still valid for 10 days. But there was no battle at all as soon I showed the insurance they accepted it directly.

(Muéstrame) La Via De Volver A Casa.

by BruceP as part of Two Pegs to Patagonia, The 3 Americas.

Cerro de la Cruz, Punta Arenas.

wayhome.jpg

There's the route home, via Buenos Aires and Madrid. I just need a way of getting there!

An enterprising resident has used big poles in their garden to set up signposts to cities around the world. For the equivalent of $40 we could have ordered one for St Helens. However, we'd sooner spend the money on food, beer and getting my bike fixed.

We're in Melbourne

by admin as part of Australian TT 2006.

5 days laterAfter a spectacular morning spent on some of the best twisty and beautifully scenic roads ever Peter and I arrived on our trusty steeds to the bustling metropolis of Melbourne, where the first order of business was to get a new back skin for Peters bike.
A little about our steeds. Peter is on a magnificent exotic, loving known as "Lumpy". It is a Cagiva Elefant, wonderfully red and full of personality, and I'm on "Butts" slang for butt ugly, a super reliable and huge grin factoring Suzuki Vstrom DL650.
