Oman
by patandbin as part of 6months travelling, 6months Cairns from 1999-?.We thank our Dubai hosts Katharine and Shawn McWeeny who invited us to stay in their high rise unit overlooking the famous reclaimed Palm Island and magnificent beaches below them. They escorted us to the nicest and biggest Mosque we have seen yet as well as to incredibly huge shopping centres, but alas we could only look as our panniers were full to exploding. Our other hosts were Dave and Lynne Mollenhauer who graciously stored our precious Miss Adventure II til we returned from Australia and a big thank you to HU member Dave Midwater who also stored our bike for awhile.
21st May 2009 - Relaxing at Harrys
by admin as part of BMW and Vincent trip London - Montpellier - London 2007.Harry explains that yesterday was a bank holiday and so is tomorrow. But not today? I ask. No says Harry, but they call a normal day like today sandwiched between two bank holidays 'the bridge' and there is a marked tendency in rural France for it to be indistinguishable from the holiday days either side. You have to admire the logic. Well the day starts bright and warm. After a few days on the road I'm a bit slow getting out of my pit. Added to that the bike is showing signs of needing some attention, - peformance down, fuel consumption up and the engine doesn't want to idle.

by Redwineracing as part of To America and Beyond.Bit of a set back
On my way home from work after a crap week I was all excited as Marcia was up from cornwall for the weekend and looking forward to a curry and a few beers then BANG
I have re broken my left metacarpal and possibly written the bike off. And I only have myself to blame. What a plonker.
LEAVING BOLIVIA
by patandbin as part of 6months travelling, 6months Cairns from 1999-?.After leaving La Paz we headed towards Potosi, which is a town with a huge silver mountain on its doorstep. It is over 4000m high and is very cold. We stayed there for quite a while as we did a tour of the mines, which was amazing to see the harsh conditions they work under. There was asbestos everywhere and the miners generally only last about 10 years before they die from asbestosos. Pat couldn´t get out of there quick enough!! The town was so rich from silver that they used to make coins for Bolivia and Spain, now Bolivian coins are made in Spain!!

by Redwineracing as part of To America and Beyond.Friday 22nd May
We are having a couple of days off we have stopped in Cartersville at a place with an outdoor pool, so today as the sun was out we have had a pool day. Well despite me using sun block and trying not to sit out in the sun to long I still managed to get slightly burnt unlike Marcia who is now red as a lobster.
Saturday 23rd May

SPAIN 1- MAY 2004
by patandbin as part of 6months travelling, 6months Cairns from 1999-?.Sorry, this has taken so long, too many things to see and too little time! Palma, Mallorcas capital city, has an old city area surrounded by fotified walls with turrets on all corners. Inside is a medievil city with narrow cobblestone streets, stone buildings and modern shop facades; tapas bars and small restaurants flow their tables right onto the streets. Outside the walls and on the waterfront is the sheltered harbour mooring the most expensive boats in the world- those being owned by the Arabian oil rich Sheiks.

by admin as part of Ron and Rockets Birthday Tour 2008.On arrival back to the tent we ate a spot of lunch before I changed into shorts and went and sat near the entrance with a ice cold lager to watch the bikes arrive. IT was Hot! well into the 80's and my tan was coming on I was starting to turn a nice brown. Rocket took to a shady area and had a nap. As the rest of the crew were not due to arrive until the next day, I was left to my own device's, with all the good food and plenty of Beer I think I will survive!
Italy and Greece
by colin masters as part of Wrinklies Wround the World 2006-2007.We went to Pompeii- and it was shut!- and so to Greece and unknown territory.Left Pisa 13/03/06 to Tarquinia which is a medi-evil walled city. Very windy- this is called 'The Montana' and lasts either 1 or 3 days. It was day 2 when we got there. Normally I am not keen on high winds on the back of the Bike but she felt very stable and comfortable.
Colin has been very pleased with the very last 'mod' that he did before leaving UK. That was to fit handle bar muffs. They have been very succesful. I'm OK with the heated jacket and gloves.
