by admin as part of Around the World - Life On A Bike. It's another border crossing today and Peter escorts us down on his R1100RS. We say farewell and begin the procedures. Although there was a little to and froing both sets of officials were done in around 1.5 hours and that included insurance, police permits and carnet. Instead of headng south we tackle the road east to Kota Bharu. Winding roads through the forests culminating in a tropical downpour at Keroh. We found shelter in a hotel just as another down pour beings.

by admin as part of South America Circumnavigation.Just to correct my previous blog - a group of penguins is not called a pickupa of penguins. I have just learned that the name for a group of penguins changes by location. The all encompassing term is a colony, a group of nesting penguins is a rookery, and a group of penguins on land are called a waddle.
I like waddle of penguins but if we all call them a pickupa of penguins and teach this to our children can we create a new word? Try, I´m going to.

I was eager to move on, as was Jacquie, so we stayed one night before hitting the road once more for Zacatecas.
The last days
by admin as part of First trip to Europe - from UK to Europe 2006.we had: beer; red wine with water; red wine with coca- cola (which I admit I would not usually drink but was surprisingly good); some tequila type stuff; and local mead. If we drank anything else I don't remember!Friday, 7/7, our last full day. Lorenz was thinking about a day trip, but I just decided to hang at the vineyard. It was quite sad leaving here, even though I really was craving a warm shower. The cold shower I had had on Wednesday had been enough to cause much shrieking and lead to washes instead from then on, not very good.

by admin as part of The Big Trip 2.Germany and England are behind us, we landed in Sydney yesterday, after an 18 hr flight and validated our new visas. For the next 2 weeks, we will be spending time with family and friends, and sorting out relevant paperwork, including collecting together the documents that will allow us to import our bikes into Australia at the end of our trip.

Bolivia Rules!!
by admin as part of South America - Northward Bound.Thru the day we ascended and descended over several mountian
ridges. Rain and sun, rivers and steep jungle mountian sides. The dust was
incredibly blinding at times, and by the evening when we reached Coroico, fun
and excitement had crusted over the bikes our luggage and ourselves.
During this day we encountered a new driving regulation known for this region´s
dangerous roads. The downhill vehicle supposedly always has the right of way,
and traffic is to stay to the left side of the road. To the right is the
Bloqueos, Bribes and BSAs
by admin as part of The Big Trip 2.There were rocks littering the road as we approached one of the toll stations and a large crowd was gathered around a truck on the other side.
A bloqueo or roadblock!
Oururo behind us, we took the long way round to Sucre, as we had been told the more direct route was much tougher, 300kms of hard dirt. As we approached the small town of Challapata however, we began to think that maybe the direct route would have been faster.
