Not sure what happened to my last two posts but I don't see them here so I guess they never showed! Too bad cause they were good. Rome has come and gone and since then there was a 5 day fabulous stay in Tuscany in the heart of the Chianti Classico area between Florwnce and Siena. This region has the perfect mix of vineyards, forest, olive groves, villages, cultivated areas, all linked by an intricate network of super twisty roads, making it a motorcyclists dream. Each day was filled with relatively short rides between towns, some walkabouts and of course fine wine and food.

Cinque Terre was next on the list for 2 1/2 days,, two great hikes between the towns of 20,000 and 15,000 steps according to my Fitbit, great views again. We were based in Montorosso which we thought was ideal and actually still quite busy for mid October.

From C T we headed towards France with an overnight in Imperia on the Mediterranean coast before making our way to Aix en Provence the following day. While there were some nice but short coastal sections we were bogged down in traffic So much that we jumped on the autostrada for a stretch until just past Nice.  We then made the best call of the day in opting to go inland up into the  Mairtime Alps. No sooner were we headed north that we found ourselves  climbing and into narrow  tight twisties through great canyons, the Grand Canyon du Verdun, followed by higher speed long sweepers and finishing off in Aix en Provence.  Definitely a highlight as far as the riding was concerned.

From Aix en P, we fought our way out of city traffic again, then through a very industrialized area before going through France's Camargue Region, a land of marshes, beaches, horses and bulls. An overnight in Sete with its canals and boats and earlier today the final 350 k push to Barcelona, mostly on the freeway, not quite as fun but super fast.

All in all, just under 4,000 kilometres of mostly fantastic motorcycling, inter spaced with a great variety of both urban and rural landscapes, different cultures, food and so much history.

We put the motorbike to bed here in Barcelona on Sunday until we return next May for more exploring of Spain, Portugal and Europe.
