Day 10
Country
Woke up to the beautiful sounds of birds and singing gibbons. Needed to do some washing but was feeling lazy so just chilled in the hammock and set up my Instagram account and opted for the laundry service at £1 per kilo! Bargain. Ron sunbathed, fell asleep and got burnt. Ouch.
In the afternoon we walked to Cat Tien national park about 10 minutes away. The main entrance was across the river and we had to take a ferry, the cost of which was part of the entrance fee. We opted to guide ourselves and took off into the jungle. It was hot and humid and there were plent of bugs after your blood. The walk was about 4 km long which we enjoyed but it got a bit boring as we didn't see any wildlife. Not even a bird. Couldn't see the wood for trees came to mind.
When we emerged from the forest on the other side we saw the Forest Flodge Lodge (I think they meant to write Forest Floor Lodge on the sign). They had a roof terrace which overloked the river and the rapids where we had a cool drink and walked back.
Stopped for another drink at the Singing Gibbon Homestay on the way back to the stilt house and got talking to the landlady who was very knowledgeable and had also taught herself English just by speaking to tourists. We ended up staying there the rest of the evening and even had dinner there and Ron sang Karaoke!
Back at the stilt house we were sitting at a table in the dining area talking when I saw a scorpion trying to get up Ron's foot. Our host used a chopstick to take the sting out of it's tail and set it free.
