Caribbean here we come!
Well staying in one place lasted 6 months!! Those that know us well are not surprised that we are hitting the road again in a weeks time! We have had a wonderful time renting our 2 spare rooms in our inner city apartment in Cairns through airbnb.com.au/rooms/6546886, meeting 55 wonderful people from many different countries.
Airbnb and us is a perfect match and we now have 55 new friends around the world!
....but adventure and change is calling us!! The first day in December will find us showing our new tenants the quirks of our apartment and hitting the road to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA where our 27 year old son Johnathan will be joining us for a long awaited drive down the Florida Keys. The Florida Keys are a string of tropical islands stretching about 120 miles off Florida's southern tip, between the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico. They are known for their laid-back vibe and as a destination for fishing, boating and scuba diving. Key West is famous for Duval Streets many bars, Mallory Squares nightly Sunset Celebration and the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum.
We will then do something we have never done before... we will board Royal Princess cruise ship and do 2 X 10 day back to back cruises of the Caribbean (one with Johnathan). Twenty days later we will roll off the ship and fly to Dominican Republic for New Years Eve celebrations (first in a long time without Kate!) and then island hop for the next 4 months all over the Caribbean. As usual we have no fixed plans and will move around by whatever means are available; we are keen to do some bicycling, sailing, maybe crew on a boat, flying, motorcycling, bus, train.... whatever is available at the time!
The Caribbean, long referred to as the West Indies, includes more than 7,000 islands; some of these are The Bahamas, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Cuba, US and British Virgin Islands, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Trinidad and Tobago.... we want to visit as many as we can.
Belinda's brother, Paul is 50 next year, so we will pop into Ocean Shores for the celebration end April, catch up with you all in the Brisbane area and then back to our apartment in Cairns May 4, 2016, when we will reopen our airbnb!
We have to thank the Cairns City Council for putting on all the free exercise and entertainment on The Esplanade... we have participated in it all and loved every minute of it, and so have our guests!!
Thanks again to Belinda's Mum, Jill for being the wind beneath our winds... we have not got enough fingers and toes to count the number of ways she helps us to fly on a daily basis... you rock Mum, we love and appreciate you more than you will ever know.
We also thank Rosanne and Chris and everyone else in Piermonde for totally making us feel at home and one of the family!
To the girls at tennis and zumba and yoga and Dave and the boys for taking Pat on adventure trail rides around Cairns... we will miss you and have loved every minute we have spent with you!
Bring on the next adventure and we look forward to hearing from you... as usual keep in touch via facebook.... Love to you all... thank you for making our life so full and pleasant. If anyone is in the Caribbean area over the next 5 months, lets party on!
