Cordoba

by harleydan as part of USA, Mexico and beyond....

The city had a slightly oppressive feel to it, and try as I may, I couldn’t get excited about it. After being in Buenos Aires, which had turned out to be one of our favourite cities, Cordoba was definitely a step down, to say the least. We rode out of buenos Aires in searing heat, northeast towards Cordoba, and arrived in the city centre 8 hours after we pulled out of Luis’ garage.

On the way to Cordoba, at last , the Argentinian roads began to get exciting again

by RickMcD as part of Alaska to Tierra Del Fuego 2006, Around Oz 2008, Around the Baltic 2011, Taiwan 2013.

Made it home after 5 months and 23,300 miles of riding. Flew out of Buenos Aires with very mixed emotions. Glad to be getting back home and sad that an excellent adventure was coming to an end!OK, made it back home again and I am already into the old routines. It
feels good!!!

We were able to take some tours of the very nice snowcapped mountains
and the many glaciers around El Calafete.

Pakistan

by parkie as part of UK - NZ, 2003 - 2005.

Deserts are hot, mountains are cold. A rather obvious concept that has been reinforced by our experiences here in Pakistan.

From Bam in Iran through to Quetta in Pakistan is a 1000km ride across the desert through the bad lands of Baloucistan.

Bam, a small oasis town covered in date palms with an amazing old adobe citadel, had seemed warm to us but it was only a foretaste of what was to come.

Still Going West

by admin as part of Europe/North America 2003-2004.

An on we go. Following my very positive experience with the Miller Family in Pierre, South Dakota, I move on towards the Black Hills, to see Mount Rushmore. On the way there, on a lonely gas station on one of these straight secondary highways, which don’t seem to end, I met with a group of bikers (I believe from Minneapolis) who were on their annual trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota.

I have climbed (on) the North face of the Eiger

by davebetty as part of Single ticket to Sarajevo.

I had eaten and gone to bed just before it started to rain. It was pelting down hard as I layed up for the night.

I was awoken at about 2pm by a wet elbow. In fact, just about everything was wet. It turns out that the hot temperatures of the Adriatic had unglued the taped seems on the tent.

The rest of the night involved mopping up water with socks or undies and atempting to sleep under a waterproof jacket.

Bon Jour!

by admin as part of UK to OZ 2003-?.

We are currently in CARCOSSONNE in the South of France. The weather has gone completey stupid and on Sunday reached 102f The oil temp gauge was reading 130c for most of the day, but the bike didn,t make the horrible rattly noise it usually makes when it,s overheating. The scenery and the hospitality in France has been fantastic. We stayed in a friends house for four days. These were the only days we,ve managed to stay within our budget, hopefully things will even out when we reach Eastern Europe and Asia.

On the road to home

by davebetty as part of Single ticket to Sarajevo.

Waking up in the Best Western Hotel in Ieper, or Ypres as is is known to English speakers, was quite an experience. I was in a comfortable bed, there was no sound of rain, I was not freezing cold and no immediate concerns sprang to mind. Had I died and gone to Hell?
