Chimaltenango to Santa Ana, El Salvador

by admin as part of DeadHorse to Ushuaia 2011.

23 October 2011This was a 209 mile day, left at 08:05 and arrived at 18:30.
Ran in to a political struggle between two Guatemalan bureaucrats departing Guatemala. The long and short of it being that a 90 minute process took 3.5 hours and required us to provided written statements, in Spanish, that the bikes are our property and that we're taking them out of Guatemala. Thus we again violated Rule Number 1, NEVER ride at night in Central America.

Going north

by fabriceblocteur as part of From Japan across Asia to Europe.

The trip is going slowly but surely. I’m making small steps, never more than forty to fifty kilometers a day after leaving Beijing, and a bit more north of Zhangjiakou. I’m trying to respect as much as I can the journey made by that woman in 1862 from Beijing to Moscow.

We are back on the road again after dropping another exhaust valve about 115 kms north of Paris: 24hour Parts delivery from England took six days extra: Watched New Year on T.V. Wow!!! by admin as part of South America Circumnavigation.

Ahoyhoy Tiggers Travels followers,
Thanks to both of you for taking the time to have a quick squiz at what's happening out here on the trip. Good and bad so far. Alas you'll have to be brought up to speed solely by my monotonous poorly spelt droan as the computer i'm using was originally Noah's before he upgraded and I can't get the pictures to you yet.
So what has happened?

La Paz, Bolivia

by harleydan as part of USA, Mexico and beyond....

After another 2 hours of riding through the rain, I eventually arrived at the top of a mountain and through the clouds, I was afforded a view of La Paz, the highest capital city in the world, laid out beneath me like a collection of Lego buildings. LA PAZ

Dead bikes= no fun

by admin as part of First trip to Europe - from UK to Europe 2006.

It´s a tough slog and although Edgar managed to ring for a while it ended all too soon with no warning. So now we are hoping that Linda may be able to do something from home-NESS: (Tues, 7-7) We walked down to use the internet at the local hotel. No contact from the only Slovenian community member. Lorenz´s phone is now out of credit, we seem to be unable to use local phones for international calls, the hotel will only let us if we check in.

Pillion to La Paz

by admin as part of The Big Trip 2.

It took 4 days in all, from the morning the postman delivered the parts, to restarting the bike after taking the engine apart, having the cylinder redrilled and putting all back together.Demonstrators were out on the streets and roads into La Paz were blocked by protesting campesinos. Away from Plaza de San Francisco, where protesters were rallying, the city centre was quite, more so than usual.

Chiapas

by harleydan as part of USA, Mexico and beyond....

We set off in the glorious sunshine and left Oaxaca state, into Chiapas. The brown and dry landscape gave way to lush, tropical vegetation, the roads became bumpier and more pot-holed, and after lunch, which was the first time we tried Iguana-and the last, hopefully- the weather started to change too. We set off in the glorious sunshine and left Oaxaca state, into Chiapas.

Update

by admin as part of Germany to Oz, 2006.

Arriving ýn Frankfurt after a stop over ýn Tokyo and quýte an exceptýonal sushi meal consýsting of the most amazing colours shapes and flavours i have ever encounted in a meal and the most repulsive a bowl of what could only be described as cold gelatenous seeweed stýrred with gritty dirt. Amazing.

Ý hired a car and set off for Walluf a small výllage just outside of Weisbaden. Unfortunately the combination of driving on the other sýde of the road and jet lag resulted in me pulling the car over blowing up my air mattress and sleeping in the forest.
