Photo: Pat crossing bridge

by patandbin as part of 6months travelling, 6months Cairns from 1999-?.

Pat probably the most scared he has been in his life crossing a makeshift bridge with no sides, a 20m drop and no run up or road to follow afterwards. This is the closed road to Banos in Equador- we dont recommend it to anyone!!

Qualeetee!

by admin as part of A Wing and Prayer Trip Fall '07.

So trip to Sayulita (near Puerto Vallarta) went smoothly, if not tiring.

I had to stay up late Thurs night packing and had to be up super early Fri. To add to that, a last minute call to the doctor about my allergies (and an agravating cough) resulted in a last minute doctors appointment and medication for Strep Throat! Needless to say with little sleep and an illness the flights here and cab ride all sort of drifted by in a fog.

30 000km On The Road

by Kevinvw as part of Around The World On A Honda Transalp.

In the meanwhile, we have been travelling for over 30 000km!!!

Perfect reason to celebrate. So we buy the ingredients to make our favourite cocktail and look for a nice spot for our subdued party. But of course it’s Mickey that has brought us so far, so we can’t forget about him. We thank him with a carwash and a kiss from Kitty. All these kilometres in sometimes difficult circumstances, must have been hard for our old boy. We hope he keeps up the good work because we still have a long way to go and it wouldn’t be the same without him.

Gauymas to Mazatlan

by admin as part of A Wing and Prayer Trip Fall '07.

Nov 22 Thurs - Gauymas to Mazatlan

Ok... so this day was another big mile day, the goal - Mazatlan, about 800kms.

This section was all mainland freeeways, 4 lanes almost the entire way. Other than a few wrong turns (god I need a GPS) the trip was pretty uneventful, thankfully. The pace was fast but smooth (except a few wicked potholes) and basically I just cruised the whole way.

I did run out of daylight and pressed on in the dark which was fun. It was full mooon so the landscape was sorta lit up and it was abit surreal driving.

Trip towards Bekopaka.

by admin as part of Madagascar.

These are some pictures and a story from my trip, not to, but towards Bekopaka in western madagascar. My departure town was morondava, on the west-coast of madagascar. From there I rode 110km north to the city of Tsymafana (not hot) wich was indeed very hot as the rest of coastal madagascar. There I had to put the bike on a boat to cross the river Tsiribihina wich takes aprox 40minutes, and enter the town of Belo sur Tsiribihina.

April 23rd Big Push to Fuengirola.

by admin as part of BMW and Vincent trip London - Montpellier - London 2007.

Over my beautiful steak the previous night I’d contemplated what to do today. I want to revisit the stark yet addictive Almeria region – Europe’s only true desert. I want to travel the roads of the Alpujarras – the tortuous roads that cling to the southern faces of the Sierra Nevada. Trouble is I also have a compulsion to just get the trip done. After five days in the saddle without a break I’m getting, well, tired.

Farewell SouthAmerica

by admin as part of South America / Mexico 2005/2006.

After finishing the motorcycle maintenance and other stuff that I had planned to do in Santiago, I had a little more than a week left and did not want to spend this time in Santiago. It's not really that much a thrilling city (although it's certainly not too bad either). So I decided to go to Valparaiso, Santiago's famous harbour. It took me less than 2 hours to get there and to find my accomodation (pre-booked since it's high season), the Villa Kunterbunt with a large portrait of Astrid Lindgren's Pippi Langstrumpf covering the entrance gate.

North Carolina continued

by Redwineracing as part of To America and Beyond.

Sunday 31st May
Bob and Jude were not going to go out today and as Jude has told me how dirty my bike is and I should clean it. It was also overdue it next service so I decided I would get some oil and at least give it an oil change, Bob had a spare oil filter that he let me use. So after the service it got its well needed clean.
Shortly after finishing the bike the rest of their guests started to arrive. They have all trailered their road and trail bikes here from Idaho. So once the bikes were unloaded it was not long before the food and drink was flowing.
