Today I woke up feeling a little nervous. We‘d ride to London. Huge city, lots of traffic, leftside traffic and where to park my bike safely? But with our usual optimism we decided everything would go well.
The ride was nice with plenty of sunshine. We rode with our jackets open and enjoyed the wild roadtrip feeling. Soon enough we reached the outskirts of London. Navigating the traffic was a lot easiert than expected. We had a good laugh when a big Rottweiler dog started to bark at us from a transporter at a red traffic light. We barked back and the dog answered and so on.
Finally we arrived in the center and found a parking spot close to the Airbnb. When we found the key-locker and managed to open it, it was empty. I immediately sent a message to the host, but they had been quite slow answering to previous messages so we didn‘t have much hope for a swift response. After writing the message, I happened to see the calendar and the booking date: we had arrived one day too early. How could that have happened? After a while we had figured it out, that we had left Newquay one day earlier than planned and neither the host there, nor the host in bath realized, that we were a fill day early. We sat in a park for twenty minutes, during which I was mostly just shaking my head at this whole confusion. Very uncommon thing for me.
Soon enough we had found another airbnb for the night, only 15 minutes away. So we took the bike there and sure enough: no place to park the bike. Fortunately a delivery guy on his scooter had pity with me and guided me to a parking space for motorbikes. The two-wheeled-community is not limited by ccms.
When everything was sorted and we soon started discovering London. Downtown and SoHo was a little much for us, but we really enjoyed Whitechapel and shoreditch.
One of the nicest stop in London was waiting for us on the day of our departure back to Dover.
