Sunday 06 Sept - Bloomington - Springfield

Exiting Bloomington along 66 brings us to the renowned Dixie trucker stop at McLean. While the diner itself caters to needs of truckers at the back is a small corridor which houses all things 66 through the years. Its amazing the interest that travelling this route by Harley still draws as we experienced everthing from a fellow Harley owner complementing the colour of our bike to an avid argentinian fan who could not stop taking pictures.

The route takes you off the main road at various points to bring us through long forgotten towns like Atlanta which prides itself on its huge grain silo's and of course the "muffler man".We decided to take the 30's allignment that takes us past the long forgotten "Pig Hip" restaurant. Only a sign in the garden hints at its former glory when 66 was the main route . At last we have arrived in Abe's hometown.
