Saturday 19 Sept - Albuquerque - Gallup(NM)
New Mexico is called the enchanting state and to date I have been wondering why it would give itself this title. The reason soon becomes apparent once you leave the insanity of the I40 west out of Albuquerque behind. My advise for the 140 miles that lies ahead is to crank up the Harley (what else would you ride!!) to around 75 put on 99.5FM and sit back and enjoy the incredible vistas that will pass by.
Today we were given the greatest show as the huge sky is filled with the clouds associated with a passing storm front that is at last moving south towards Louisiana (that info is coutesy of the weather channel) to the North is the incredible red rock mountains that seem to continually change colour with the sun breaking through the clouds and to the south the distant forests. This is definitely a journey to be savoured.
About 15 miles east of Gallop lies the Continental divide. This has got to be the biggest anti-climax.This spot is marked by a small Navajo shop and a gaudy sign which explains that rains to the east of here make their way to the Atlantic and rains to the west go toward the Pacific.
