Modern Singapore

A two night stop over, on our way to London, in Singapore was a lovely respite from what would have been a 21 hour flight plus transfers.

30 degrees C temperatures, threatening storms, high humidity was a welcome panacea to the cramped conditions of Cattle Class Flying.
Our hotel located near the 'Little India' district allowed us the freedom to walk this 'shopping mall' city and undertake some of the less retail based activities.

Singapore is a beautiful island city. Parks and gardens abound, old colonial buildings interspersed with fabulous examples of modern architecture. Fancy restaurants with fine dining and hawkers markets for traditional fare.

To add to this, Singapore is very easy to walk and navigate your way around.

Gardens by the Bay is a lovely place to while away the day and escape the hustle and bustle of city life. The gardens are filled with nooks and crannies to explore and gardens dedicated to indigenous plants from neighbouring Asian countries.

Old Singapore

Our 13 1/2 hour flight from Singapore to London, apart from not sleeping well, was uneventful.

Heathrow immigration was very efficient for one of the busiest airports in the world.

Tired, dazed and confused, we were gratefully met at the airport by Mike, whom we had not seen since 2008, and whisked away to the borough of Ealing and Bonny and the sleeping kids.
