Look left on the map and you can see my final destination, Santiago De Compost Heap!

DAY 16 – SATURDAY 21ST SEPTEMBER 2019       You’ll all be pleased to know that this is my last blog for the next week or so as I start my Camino walk to Santiago De Compostela tomorrow and I won’t be lugging this laptop around with me! I will make notes on my journey and I plan to start catching up with the blog probably once on the ferry back to the UK. However, if there should be a public computer at one of the hostels I stop at, I will endeavor to do a catch-up there, so if you have been following remember to check each day in case I have managed to write some more waffle!

In booking a second night at my hotel I’d inadvertently booked a breakfast, so after over indulging in cured meats, cheese, pancakes, croissants, chocolate marble cake and a kind of cheesecake with strawberry jam on top, I set off with the suspension on my motorbike groaning under the extra weight!

Todays journey was pretty uneventful, although I must admit I was quite pleased to see Navia disappearing in my rear view mirrors. The weather was warm, but very overcast and because of the damp patches on the road surface I had to exercise a lot of extra caution when negotiating the lovely swinging bends of the N644 heading south inland. Eventually the dampness in the air became too much and I was forced to put on my waterproof jacket for the last 20 miles or so of my journey into Sarria.

I presume the PR means 'Pilgrims Route' and not 'Public Relations'  :-)

My phone satnav took me right on to the doorstep of Albergue San Lazaro Hostel where I was greeted by the lovely Maria, who I’d been emailing regularly from the UK in order to arrange storage of my motorcycleplus all the stuff not required on the walk. I also booked the hostel again for once I’ve finished the walk as it will take me the best part of the day to get back here using the bus. I'll then stay the night and collect my bike the following morning before heading back towards Bilbao.

Once settled in my own private room (I start dormitory sharing tomorrow!) I had to start sorting out what I was going to leave and what to pack in my ruck sack, and as usual it was stuff in, stuff out, rearrange and pack again!

It may be the fashion, but I can't wait to have mine removed!

Well I was going to have a walk around Sarria before retiring to a suitable restaurant for sustenance, but I think it’s going to be more of a sprint to the nearest eatery due to the heavy rain currently splashing against my window pane! I do hope this is not a portent of the week to come!
