For many months, almost 2 years, I was confident that I would be completely prepared when I finally started my journey. I had spent countless hours reading books, maps, and websites. I would have the ultimate blog that would have the perfect pictures and itinaries. I actually wondered at one point if my trip would be a disappointment because I knew so much.

Well, here I am frantically preparing to make sure I just leave on May 20. At first it was April 1- April Fool's Day, then May 1, then May 14, and now May 20. I am on the verge of cancelling my Alaska leg of the trip because I do not want to rush to Tierra del Fuego. I have decided to go to Alaska, though, because, well, I am stubborn sometimes. Also, I have the luxury of not having a committed return date. :))))))

So this is for you. I have taken refuge in the writings of so many other travels for so long that the reality of my trip has suddenly come crashing upon me. Two weeks to go and so much to do, but go I will....
