2006 August: Baja, Mexico
I finally crossed the border and immediately felt different.I stayed with another f650.com member in Chula Vista where I worked on the bike some more (and more and more)....
But soon I was off and crossing the border. After a brief stop in Ensenada I was off to Mike's Sky Ranch. Mike's is an off road mecca up a 20 mile steep dirt road. I didn't realize there would be sand, however. It took me 5 hours to get there but I was glad to be in one piece.
At one point I stopped in the middle of a steep hill to decide on a line of attack, but when I went to get started again I dropped the bike. No matter what I did I could get the bike upright. I was just about to set up my tent when this guy in army fatigues comes out of no where and helps me. I couldn't believe it. I had run out of water and exhausted. He went to the river to get me water and help carry my luggage to the next level spot.
A small water crossing marked the entrance and when the water hit my body I instantly felt the relief as my body temperature dropped.
