Pacific Coast Pt 2
I enjoyed Mexico for a few days before continuing down the coast on Route 200 or the Dead Dog Alley as I now call it.
The small town of San Blas turned out to be such a very nice little town that I stayed for a few days.
I was told that 20 years ago this was the place to be and there were campers along the beach as far as one could see. Many people in the town seem to be waiting for things to turn around. Once again I was told there are plans for a marina to help stimulate the economy.
The main reason I liked San Blas so much was a nice club called the San Blas Social Club. It has a great mix of friendly people such as a former matedor turned bartender and a guy from Brooklyn who owns the place.
The main tourist attraction is the mangrove swamp tours, however.
They breed alligators and crocodiles for release into the wild.
I continued down to Puerto Vallarta where I stayed off the bike and just relaxed for a couple of days. Despite it being a complete tourist town I found the old town very nice. It was then back down the coast on Route 200.
A long boring ride finally dropped me into Zihuantanejo which was a recommended town, but I found it to be overrun with gringos and very tacky. This was when I decided I had enough of the hot humid coast and would head for the mountains.
