Today the team ride from Carentan France to Mervent France. Distance 450klms.
Colin has pointed out that they see no cows out in the pastures in the Netherlands, and yet as they move south they start to see them more and more out enjoying the green grass and sunshine. I guess all cows in the Netherlands are housed under roof. Lots of effluent could be seen sprayed out onto pastures in the Netherlands. They are seeing lots of maize at 2 leaf and beyond stage. Saw the 1st barley crops coming into head around Bordeaux. Once in Spain, further South they noticed all the barley crops in head.The Soil has been quite variable. Netherland and Belgium had quite sandy soils.
