25TH MAY, WHAT ARE WINDMILLS FOR?
Today, Namur Belgium to Poortugaal Netherlands, 308ks.
Again Great weather! From a grubby place for dinner last night to a pristine pattiserie for breakfast that won the Bronze medal in the world cup of pattiserie 2009. This was a welcome contrast. The team all went to see the windmills at Kinderdijk. These windmills were not only used to mill grain but also as pumping stations to manage water levels behind the dijks. They all went inside a working windmill. Early Dutch engineers were clever clogs to come up with the systems that they did to reclaim land and manage water as they did.
They went to the house where Henk was born and the village where Pia was brought up. They got back to Henks brothers place late afternoon.
Now they have completed their lap of Europe in 28 days, 7303 klms. Well done troops!
