Almost Time

Date of update

So the planning and prep is almost done - now the fun can startIt started when a friend of mine decided he was going to take a year off work and move to Peru with his wife and daughter - Jeff was going to ride down while his family flew so I sort of invited myself to tag along and unfortunately for him he couldn't think of an excuse/reason fast enough for me not to tag along so now the poor bugger is stuck with me for 2.5 months at least he will get some breaks - since his dad - Alfred -is going to make the trip as well.

Only 18 day to go

So got the KLR back home on the weekend - Jeff volunteered to ride it from his place to mine which was really nice of him since I wasn't sure if I remembered to torque all the bolts back to spec. - better him then me. To make sure it got a good shakedown on the way home we decided to take a route with lots of construction so we could get stuck in traffic due to that road construction - good news the bike didn't heat up!

Final stages

Date of update

Oh the pain .... Ok so despite all the planning and the multiple shots required for such an adventure the real pain hit me today when it came time to convert some Canadian currency to the dreaded American dollar!
Now that is real pain - with the current exchange rate every dollar cost $1.25 - ooch! I know you can't take it with you but I though that meant death not on vacation:)
Ok - now that I got that off my chest I feel much better......
So we leave on Saturday 12 of September and I thought I better get started on the packing - I started with a bare KLR650 -

3 - Days Left

Date of update

So we are down to the final days before the trip and I felt I should get some saddle time in on the KLR before I have to start spending hours a day riding.
I put the HD up last weekend so was forced to either take the train to work or the KLR - I hate the train so KLR it is!
