3 - Days Left

So we are down to the final days before the trip and I felt I should get some saddle time in on the KLR before I have to start spending hours a day riding.
I put the HD up last weekend so was forced to either take the train to work or the KLR - I hate the train so KLR it is!
1st day - suffice it to say it was a big change - the bike felt small and very high up - the seating position takes some getting used to as well! Much further forward - and more upright! I know all these features will be appreciated when/if we do any offroad riding further south but for now it feels odd.
I should mention the biggest issue I have had so far is swinging my leg over the seat!
With the new spring and the flat Corbin seat it is quite a stretch for my old legs and hips - can you imagine the embarrassment i will suffer if I break a hip! Never mind what I will have to put up from Jeffery for the reminder of the trip!
I hope it will get easier as the trip goes on - If I have trouble without all the baggage - it may get worse before it gets better!
Other then that there are a couple of other issues that I will need to figure out - the heated grips dont work on high when the bike is running - which is a little odd - they work on hi/low when the bike is off.
Throttle lock still needs some adjustment - holds speed for 30 seconds or so but a little longer - say 45 seconds to a minute - would be better!
The Corbin seat is nice - if not a little hard - but I think I will appreciate that firmness as the trip wears on - will keep you updated - which I am sure will keep you all on the edge of your seats:)
Tonight - inventory and loading of the bags - probably have way more then I need but remember the old saying ' Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!"
Stay tuned ....
